Overview

The New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute, at the request of the State and several foundations, brought together neonatologists, obstetricians, doulas, midwives, labor and delivery nurses, social workers, and others to create comprehensive recommendations for pregnant individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report presents the recommendations of the New Jersey Perinatal Care During COVID-19 Work Group and is divided into the following topics in order to facilitate its use by health care workers, policymakers, and other readers:

  • Prenatal Care
  • Triage & Testing Guidance for Facilities
  • Labor & Delivery
  • Postpartum Care
  • Alternative Birthing Sites

The report includes Appendices with additional resources as well as a list of policy recommendations that would improve maternal quality and equity outcomes. The report is updated on a weekly basis.
